Artist's Comments

Resolve from the project 'Utopia,' in this project I looked intopeoples different ideas of their own utopias. My little brothers was a city made out of sweets. I then created a city made out of discarded objects such as chipboards and old cd rom drives exploring the idea of distopia. This is where I ended up. The idea of making something out of nothing and using the old nursery rhyme 'there was an old woman who lived in a shoe' as well as the idea that something so sturdy and comfortable as an old mans brogue could become a type of Utopia.

Final piece will be acollection of shoes which link together. Have made an old brogue and an old paisley boot so far

Its really strange, I'm not really a maker at all and I would have never classed myself a patient person either, but i really got into this! all the furniture is made from parts of the shoe, wire and a needle and thread, I didn't allow myself to use any glue! glad you appreciate the work behind it , i will hopefully be uploading more over the next week.:)

WOW. That's a heck of a lot of work. LOLz I prolly would have cheated and used glue. Even with glue, though, its still really complicated.
